Overview

This is to welcome you to online participation in the ISPSO Annual Meeting & Symposium which will consist of all-day sessions on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, July 5, 6 and 7. The information that follows is intended for both those of you who have already registered for online participation and those of you who are considering doing so. For the sake of readability we will refer to online participants as ‘you’.

A summary of the program

There are two main elements comprising the symposium. These are the parallel paper presentations https://ispso.org/AM24-Papers-Overview where five sessions will be held simultaneously, and the plenaries where there will only be one session held at any given time. Plenaries consist of the opening and closing sessions, a keynote on Friday and panels on Saturday and Sunday.

Your experience and participation

All sessions during these three days will be streamed to you, with the exception of the end of day Reflections on Intellectual Themes. 

You will participate through a web link to QiqoChat, which is a platform that enables Zoom participation as well as the sharing of documents. You will have a view of the room in Sofia from a high-quality movable camera. During the presentation, the camera will show the presenter and during discussion it will follow audience members who ask questions and make comments. Screen sharing will enable you to see PowerPoint material that will also be projected in the room for the live audience.

You will be able to contribute to discussion sessions through the chat facility of Zoom with a person in the room in Sofia who will also be participating via QiqoChat/Zoom. He or she will relay your comments and questions to the presenter and the audience.  A minority of presentations will be solely online and the main difference for you will be that the image of the presenter will be streamed via Zoom rather than from an in-room video camera. 

During parallel paper presentations, the QiqoChat platform will enable you to choose one of five parallel papers (for each of the five parallel paper sessions) and will later host those sessions which are recorded, viewable to registered participants after the event for a limited period.

Your experience during plenary sessions you will be very similar to that of the parallel paper sessions.

Social Dreaming

Registering for the symposium (online or in-person) will also give you access to the "Online Social Dreaming event". Online Social Dreaming will run from 1.15pm to 2.15pm EEST (Eastern European Summer Time) for the first 4 days (including 2 sessions in the 2 weeks before the AM) and 12.30 to 1.30pm during the Symposium. Session timing (Eastern European Summer Time – EEST)

The symposium streamed sessions will run from 9.15 to 4.45 on Friday and Saturday (July 6 and 7) and from 9.15 to 3pm on Sunday (July 7).

During summer – that is during July – EEST is UTC/GMT +3 hours.
