South Africa
South Africa requires either a business or tourist visa for entry into the country. Some countries are exempt and do not require a visa for entry. Follow this link to see if you are exempt from having to apply for a visa.
Visa processing times can be slow. Please ensure that you apply at least 3 months in advance to ensure that there is sufficient time for your visa to be processed. Visas can take an average of 6 weeks to issue.
The e-visa online system is currently reserved for some countries https://evisa-southafrica.com/all-eligible-country-for-south-africa-visa/. The online e-visa system may experience technical issues in its pilot phase. You will need to apply at your nearest consulate in person.

The CDC and WHO recommend the following vaccinations for South Africa: hepatitis A, hepatitis B, typhoid, yellow fever, rabies, meningitis, polio, measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR), Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), chickenpox, shingles, pneumonia, and influenza. The shot lasts 2 years.

There are various international airlines servicing South Africa. The main international airport, which is nearest to our AM2023 venue, is OR Tambo International Airport (ORT). ORT is in Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province. There are airports in most other main cities in other provinces should you wish to travel locally prior to or post the AM.
Please make sure that you have the correct visa entry requirements to enter South Africa, either from your country of origin or from your last transit country. Please check the visa details above for countries exempt from visa requirements.

This is a residential AM and the organising committee recommend that you stay onsite at 26 degrees South. This makes it easier to access the conference. It will also contribute to your
overall immersive experience of the AM2023. Be reminded that you cannot book Uber or Taxis to pick you up at the venue!
Only for South Africans: If you do plan to stay elsewhere, and travel in and out at your convenience and cost, please be aware of traffic congestions in, and around,
Johannesburg.
