Online Conference 5-11 July 2021
I have a private clinical/consulting practice in Greenwich Village in New York City. I received my B.A. from Brown, my Ph.D. in History from Stanford, and my clinical training from the Institute for Psychoanalytic Training and Research (IPTAR), with additional training through the Melanie Klein Trust. I have taught at Princeton and NYU, where I was tenured faculty for over a decade. I'm currently a Visiting Fellow at the DeWitt Wallace Institute of Psychiatry, an interdisciplinary research unit at Weill Cornell Medical College. I'm the author of The Demon of Writing: Powers and Failures of Paperwork (Zone Books, 2012; French translation, 2013), a psychodynamic investigation into the origins of modern bureaucracy.
