The Imaginary Scapegoat

The idea that if God did not exist we would have to invent him is referenced also to the construction, both conscious and unconscious, of selecting a scapegoat to satisfy ideological needs associated particularly with Racism and Nationalism. The paper traces this via an examination of the perception of self and Not- Self.
