Review of 'Industrialization Revisited: Sons of the Machine' by C. Savage and G. Lombard
With so much attention today being paid to the shift from industrial to postindustrial social and economic arrangements, it is refreshing to revisit the process of industrialization itself. Among other things, it enables us to renew our appreciation of the historic roots of so many formidable problems that we struggle with now, problems of meaningful work, worker committment, Taylorism, and the search for ways to integrate productive capacity with human dignity.
