Poetry as a Source of Hope in Contemporary Organizations
The core argument (a disguised intuition?) of my paper is that poetry can be a source of containment for the individual navigating through the erratic, unpredictable, scary and turbulent ocean which has become the contemporary organization. I do claim that a poetic language provides a symbolic matrix, an enveloping tissue to deal with difficult and threatening experiences innate to the postmodern workplace. And I do dare to assert that poetry has the force to reframe and metabolize toxic experiences people are exposed to in contemporary organizations. Finally I suggest that the creations of poets and a better understanding of their poetic creativity delivers the symbolic material out of which the contemporary subject can create and shape an inner companion, a supporting Alter Ego, a benign double.
